لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ I swear by (Laa' Uq'simu Bi) this (Haaza) land (El'Balad)*; https://thegreatkoran.com/90:1

وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ and (Wa) you (s) (An'ta), will be free (Hillu) in (Bi) this (Haaza) land (El'Balad), https://thegreatkoran.com/90:2

وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ and so (Wa) is the male parent (Waalidin) and that which (Maa) is begotten (Walad). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:3

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ We have certainly (Laqad') created (Khalaq'naa) the human being (El' Insaana) into (Fii) suffering (Kabad). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:4

أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ Does (A-) he think (-yah'sabu) that (An) no (Lan) one (Ahadu) made it possible for him (Yaq'dira Älai'hi)? https://thegreatkoran.com/90:5

يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا He says (Yaquulu), "I have wasted (Ah'lakatu) bundle (Lubadaa) of wealth (Maalan)." https://thegreatkoran.com/90:6

أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ Does (A-) he think (-yah'sabu) that (An) no (Lam') one (Ahadu) sees him (Yara-hu)? (57:4) https://thegreatkoran.com/90:7

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ Have We not (Alam') granted him (Naj'äla Lahu) two eyes (Äi'nai'n)? https://thegreatkoran.com/90:8

وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ And (Wa) a tongue (Lisaanan) and (Wa) two lips (Shafatai'n)? https://thegreatkoran.com/90:9

وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ And (Wa) We led him to (Hadai'naa-hu) the two elevations (En'Naj'dai'n)? https://thegreatkoran.com/90:10

فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ But (Fa) he has not (Laa) broken through (Eq'tahama) the obstacle (El'Äqaba'). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:11

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ And (Wa) what (Maa) will make you (s) know (Ad'raa-ka) what (Maa) is the obstacle (El'Äqaba')? https://thegreatkoran.com/90:12

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ Freeing (Fakku) of a slave (Raqabat') https://thegreatkoran.com/90:13

أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ or (Aw') feeding (It'äämun) on (during) (Fii) a day (a period) (Yaw'min) of (Zii) famine (Mas'gabat'); https://thegreatkoran.com/90:14

يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ an orphan (Yatiimaan) who (Zaa) is nearby (Maq'rabat') https://thegreatkoran.com/90:15

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ or (Aw') a poor person (Mis'kiinan) with (Zaa) poverty (Mat'rabat'), 1 https://thegreatkoran.com/90:16

ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ and then (Thumma) to be (Kaana) among (Mina) those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu') and (Wa) hand-down (Tawaasow') with (Bi) patience (Es'Sob'ri) and hand-down (Tawaasow') with (Bi) mercifulness (El'Mar'hama'). 2 https://thegreatkoran.com/90:17

أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ Those (U'laa'ika) are the companions (As'haabu) of the right side (Mai'mana'). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:18

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ As for (Wa) those who (Ellaziina) disbelieved (Kafaru') in (Bi) Our verses (Aayaati-naa), they (Hum) are the companions (As'haabu) of the left side (El'Mash-ama'). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:19

عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُؤْصَدَةٌ The fire (Naarun) will be shut (Mu'sodat') against them (Älai'him’). https://thegreatkoran.com/90:20
